Every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive.
For many children and young people, growing up comes with challenges that can shape the course of their lives. A child may have the potential to succeed but lack access to quality education. A young girl may miss school because she cannot afford menstrual products. An adolescent may have questions about their health but nowhere safe to find accurate information. Others may struggle with their mental health in silence because support is simply out of reach.
This is where AFAY Health Initiative comes in.
AFAY Health Initiative is a youth-led non-profit organisation working to improve the health, wellbeing, rights, and opportunities of vulnerable children, adolescents, and young people.
We believe that meaningful change begins by listening to communities and understanding the realities young people face. Through school-based programs, community outreaches, advocacy, and digital engagement, we connect young people with information, resources, and support that can make a real difference in their everyday lives.
Our work spans education and literacy, sexual and reproductive health and rights, menstrual health, mental health awareness, child rights, and the prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
But our work is about more than programs.
Since our inception, AFAY Health Initiative has reached thousands of adolescents through community and school-based initiatives. We continue to work alongside young people, families, schools, communities, and partners to create solutions that are relevant, practical, and sustainable.
We believe young people are not simply recipients of change — they are part of the solution.
By equipping them with knowledge, opportunities, and a voice, we are helping build a generation that can make healthier choices, advocate for their rights, support one another, and create positive change within their communities.
Our vision is simple:
A future where every child and young person has the knowledge, opportunity, and support they need to live a healthy, safe, and fulfilling life.
Our Mission, Vision and Core Values motivate us in doing more
To ensure that all children, adolescents, and youths thrive and reach their full potential through programs, research, and policy efforts.
